Sunny Monday!
Yesterday I watched a film "Julie & Julia" (2009). i'm very glad I didn't see it before because all comes in a right moment. I think this moment was yesterday 😊 So, I like this film, good starring! The best moment was when Julia Child was learning to slice onions... The best moment ever 😂
Well, it inspired me to try something new. Usually I choose a familiar recipe from a cook book. The recipe for which I have all ingredients already, so it's almost always the same thing... But if I make recipes without choosing it could be more interesting.
I have a book from a library "The meat-free monday cookbook". It has a menu for every Monday of the year organized by seasons.
I bought all the ingredients this morning (it was my walking time 😀). Here we are!
The first recipe is "soft-boiled asparagus spears".
I'd have never chosen this recipe because neither I nor my husband t like asparagus. But, you know, it was delicious! Very simple and very delicious! Can't wait to learn the next surprise💕
And there is also our smoothie, banana+apple+celery+orange and dried nettle.
Packed lunch💕
Middle Eastern Tabbouleh Salad.
Good, very good! And the sunlight is so gorgeous today. I need to cook other dishes faster if I want to take all photos under this light...
Lunch and side🌿
Sweet potato gnocchi with arugula pesto and Spring herb salad💕
I made gnocchi once. Pumpkin gnocchi. It was good, but this time it is even better! Sweeter and juicier.
I remember my grandma used to make gnocchi very often. With normal potatoes. Gnochi had other name then 😄 Galushki 😄 Only she could make them very-very delicious! My mother can't repeat it and neither can I...
I think why I was too young to learn all this stuff from her. She made more delicious dishes that I don't know how to cook. And I can no longer learn from her...
This salad has a good dressing:
1 tbsp hazelnut oil (I had sunflower), 1 tbs olive oil, 2 tsp white wine vinegar (I had apple vinegar), 1 tsp Dijon mustard. Salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Well, Monday is a really difficult day, but delicious 😉 I don't know if I could make all the recipes from this book #themeatfreemondaycookbook.
I need to make a dinner and dessert too...🙄
Dinner
Spring vegetable tarte fine🌿
It's simply delicious! I didn't like zucchini. I think I didn''t know how to cook it right. Now I know and would like to bake this pie in zucchini season.
I made filo pastry home 'cause commercial pastry is usually made with palm oil. It took a long time. It could have been better if I'd made it a day before. Next time I begin to prepare it on Sunday afternoon.
Do you know, I cannot take any photos before I eat the first piece? So good! It's difficult to stop with only one 😁
My dessert is also done💕 I need only to taste it 'cause it was the first dish that I made today 😂 It also took a long time...
Dessert💕
Pink rhubarb sorbet🍨
My sorbet isn't so pink to name it pink... Maybe it's one of the pink shades that not everybody knows 😂
But it's good! I did not expect it💕
I took some frozen rhubarb because the local shops don't have it fresh yet.
Well, the first Monday meals are done. I'm tired to prepare all the ingredients, take photos, make the dishes, eat them. (But I'm not tired of eating at all. I think about one more piece of pie...) And then again and again... I never did anything like this before. We used to make preservations in summer. It was a season of long days in the kitchen... But it was never possible to eat up everything in one day...
Will see what happens next Monday😉
Best wishes,
Katrin
